France Photography Blog bio picture

Bonjour!

My mission for this blog is to help mothers, including myself, CHERISH CHILDHOOD and embrace motherhood.  As a photographer and mother of 3 small children, I am striving everday to enjoy the little things and the little people in my life.  This blog will highlight those "little" things through my lens and words.

About moi:  I got my degree in Elementary Education and am a kid at heart (that's why I bought a trampoline "for the kids"),  I LOVE to shop and can't pass up a good garage sale, I adore chocolate chip cookies (and just food in general!)  I also love to read and go on (desparately needed) dates with my hubby. Oh and I like taking pictures...just a little ;0)

Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

I am accepting a limited number of sessions for Winter/Spring because I mentor several photographers around the US. I have only 2 spots left for February & March.  April is already booked as I am traveling to Nevada to do sessions.

P.S.  I am looking for local "Mom-preneurs" (business owners who are Moms) in Colorado Springs to interview on my blog.  I am also considering interviewing other photographers who offer unique products for photographers.  If you are interested, please email me at francephotography@gmail.com.

Recipes for Haiti

The other day my daughter asked me if she could go to another country.

I said, “Sure, but it costs lots of money so you’d have to save up for a while.”

Then I asked, “Where would you want to go? Would you like to travel to France since it’s our last name?”

“No, I’d want to go to Haiti to help the people.”

I just about started crying when she said that (I’m almost crying right now as I type this) because it totally caught me off guard and showed me how sweet and tender-hearted she was.

If you are like my daughter and myself, I’m sure you have felt helpless for the people of Haiti.  Not really knowing what one person…YOU…could possibly do to help. Of course, we can pray for them. But right now, that doesn’t seem like enough.  Well, the other day, as I was reading my cleverly creative friend’s blog, I was totally INSPIRED and heart-warmed by her and all of her “foodie” friends.

blasted bead!

So this morning, my 3 yr-old son comes up to me and puts a bead up his nose right in front of my face.  ”Don’t do that. It’s dangerous!” I tell him while taking it away.  I thought that was the end of it.  About 2 minutes later, he tells me that there’s something up his nose. When I walk into the playroom, I discover an entire jar of tiny little beads on the floor. LOVELY!  I thought it would be easy to get out but, OH NO…not the case.  That blasted bead was lodged way up there in the dark crevices of his little nostril.  UGH.  So much for going to aerobics.  Instead, I take him to the Doctor’s office and $30 later, it’s out.  Such an interesting way to start your day.  Thank heavens it’s date night tonight.  I need a break!

I thought of posting pictures but that’s not something I think either of us wants to remember again ;0)

Francypants Academy’s next course!

Just wanted to give you all a heads up that on Wed. Feb. 3, 2010 I will be opening up registration for the next Francypants Academy course!  Mentoring will be from May 3rd-June 12th 2010.  Check out my Francypants Academy website for more details.  Class is limited to only 5 students and fill up quickly due to a waiting list of over 70 people!

Don’t take my word for it though:

Here’s what one of my current students said about it:

“I have attended many different workshops {about 10, in fact}. I would walk away with so many great ideas and be completely excited. Then I would get home and realize, “I have NO idea how to implement this knowledge.” Luckily, I stumbled across the single GREATEST thing for my photography business, FrancyPants Academy. Suddenly instead of listening to other peoples’ business plans, I am creating my own. FrancyPants Academy is unlike anything else on the market. I am learning how to create an entire business from someone who has worked on perfecting it for over 8 years. WOW, what a time saver for me! This is the FIRST time, I feel I am being taught how to make MY business successful, not to mention having photography lessons as well. Kelli’s strategies and feedback allow me to see my business in a whole new way. Instead of looking at the daunting task of trying to figure everything out on my own, I have a mentor who is guiding me through the process of creating a business plan! Her help with my pricing alone is worth the entire tuition fee and more. Hands down, this will be the BEST money you will ever spend on your business – not to mention the fact that with Kelli’s help, you will be making the money you spent back in one or two sessions! Seriously, I know you are sitting there thinking, ”Well, I just don’t have the money right now, I really need some new _____ {fill in the blank} first.” Let me just tell you, there is NOTHING you need for your business more than this! You can have the nicest camera, the best lenses, every software available, but if you do not have your business planned out with fabulous branding, marketing, pricing, and everything else, then you have nothing but nice equipment. Kelli’s guidance and transparency will allow you to create the business you’ve been dreaming about. Your only regret will be that you didn’t hear about it sooner!” ~Lydia Shannon, Lydia Shannon Photography

Lydia Shannon - BEST money you will EVER spend!!!!!

{snowing} ~ Colorado Springs photography

This is going to be short and sweet since I’ve got a sick little boy but I just had to share this quote since it’s snowing and since this is how I feel this morning:

Cleaning house while kids are still growing
Is like shoveling snow when it’s still snowing.

Trish - I feel like that every day. But yet, my OCD about have a clean house won't let up!

{chunka chunka} ~ Black forest baby photography

This is my cute little nephew that I don’t get to see very often because we live in different states.  He is a really happy baby and such a chunker!  I love his big brown eyes too!

P.S. I never edit the drool because I think it’s so cute and sweet!  I mean really, how many times in your life is it cute that you drool?  Only when you’re a baby ;0)

Amanda Keeys - Oooh he is so darn cute! I'm with you, drooly babies are CUTE :) No cloning that out.

Danielle and Josh - YEPEEE!!!!!! they turned out so good!!! you are so amazing! thanks again!

because I can’t resist

I just had to post a couple more images of my 3-year old.  I personally think that 3 is the new “terrible two” because they know better but they do it anyways!  Just check out his mischeivious face in the image below.  So we’ll see if I survive this year with him.  Good thing he’s cute!

This is his “NO MORE PICTURES” face. It’s still cute.Blogmad

3-D…nial ~ Monument portrait photography

My “baby” turned 3 last weekend and I am in total DENIAL!  It’s not even real that he is preschool age.  He was just barely one.  How did that happen?!  We didn’t celebrate his birthday last weekend because we’re having a big get togetha with family this weekend for a combined Baptism (for my daughter) and Birthday party.  Should be a hoot!

So here’s a little ode to him.  He’s our little charmer that likes to play in the sink and run around naked just to get our attention.  We sure love him! Here’s a couple classic images of my little man. I’m ordering a canvas of each:

babe

kerrie - Happy Birthday little guy! You are so cute!! I can't believe he is three either. Time is sure flying.

Kristy - I can't believe it, either! Great photos of him. :)
