I decided that I need to post more pics of my kids. Their pics always get done last but that’s NOT how it should be, darn-it-all! So I’m fighting against my own self and forcing me to make THEIR pics more of a priority. So here is one from our annual Slip n’ Slide Party of my girl downing a homemade Slushie. We bought a Slushie maker at Target for our party and it was a huge hit! We used it for a family get-together on the 4th of July too.

This picture is what summer is all about. I’m hoping that by posting this picture and sending out sunshine vibes that I can get the gray clouds to go away so I won’t have to cancel my photo shoot today.

Well we made it back from Utah. The trip back home was not quite as lovely as the trip there and towards the end, I texted my husband (who had to stay home and work) that “when we get home, they’re all yours.”

We had a fabulous time though fishing with Grandpa, eating, shopping with Grandma, eating, going to the dinosaur museum with my step-bros and Papa, eating, attending a wedding, seeing old friends and did I mention eating?

I did something kinda naughty too. I left my camera at home. It felt good to just be me and not a photographer.

I did take pics of my girl when we got home though. Some of my favorite pics of my kids are the ones where I just catch them being cute.
Here she is swinging in the backyard with the dog.
So content.

Awwhhh…the lazy days of summer.

These are the things I never want to forget about my children.

My little ones playing “restaurant” on a warm Spring day with one in their pajamas and the other with straggly hair.

A devoted dog as their waiter.

Fishy crackers in a plastic bag as their meal.

A towel for a tablecloth.

Pretending and forgetting reality.

Imaginations taking over.

THAT’S what childhood is all about.

End of School Year Slip n’ Slide Party

Not only do my kids look forward to the last day of school but they also look forward to the annual Slip n’ Slide Party that we have a few days after school ends. They each get to invite 1-2 friends along with their Moms (so I can have some fun too) to come over and have fun in the sun. We provide pizza and popsicles and then ask everyone to bring a side dish. It’s also the only time of the entire year that I make Kool-aid…he.he.he!

To prepare for the party, I set up the slip n’ slide and fill up a sturdy plastic pool and turn on the sprinklers–easy peezy! I usually buy pre-cooked pizzas about 20 minutes before everyone arrives so that we are ready to eat right when they all get there.

I can’t tell you how much my kids LOVE doing this every year. In fact, as I was blogging this my 4 year old saw one of the photos and said, “Oh I LOVE it when we do that!” Not only do they love it but I also enjoy doing it every year because it gives me a chance to enjoy the sunshine and chat with several of my friends all at once. So this might be a fun idea for you to try to celebrate the beginning of summer.

I hope you all had a lovely Easter. Ours was pretty chill. We had an Easter Egg Hunt with some friends on Saturday and on Sunday did the Easter basket thing, went to Church, took a nap, and had a BBQ with just our little family. Sometimes it’s nice to just do our own thing and create our own family traditions.

Here’s some shots I got of the kids at the Easter Egg Hunt we did with friends.

It was fun because we put a dollar in a few of the eggs and the kids thought that was a pretty cool surprise. I love how easily amused children are.

I love having pics of my kids all throughout my house…even in the bathroom. I already have a cute storyboard of my older two in towels hanging in the bathroom but I needed something to display of my youngest. I stumbled upon this photo from my archives and it just makes me smile. We used to give him baths in the sink all the time and he LOVED it! I just can’t get enough of a naked baby in a sink full of bubbles. Maybe it’s because you can only do that for so long. Can’t wait to give sink baths to baby #4.

Secret’s out: I’m pregnant!

Yup. It’s true and it’s kind of a little miracle too. We’d been trying for almost 2 years to get pregnant when last summer I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). That means it’s SUPER hard to get pregnant. I thought I was going to have to go on medication in order to get pregnant but alas, that was not the case and we are very grateful. This will probably be our grand finale.

I am 12 weeks along now and am SUPER tired, have to eat ALL the friggin’ time and have night sickness instead of morning sickness. I don’t want to complain though. We feel very blessed to even be pregnant. My due date is October 12th 2011 so that means I will have to do all my Fall sessions EARLY! If you are planning on doing a session with me, book it ASAP because I will have to be finished for the year by September.

I got to hear the heartbeat today. My 4 year old came with me and was mesmerized by that sound. Here’s a pic of the little bean:

In December, my boy turned 7! December is always a bit of madness since we have 3 birthdays and Christmas that month so I never got to do a birthday blog post for him. So here it is…3 months later.
I just love this kid. He has a heart of gold and is so helpful to everyone in our family. He’s also full of energy which is why I love the picture of him jumping on the bed. It’s just SO him! He is also a pretty good little dancer. Check out some of his sweet moves and lip syncing skills in this video that my kids made.

Christmas surprises

We had a lovely Christmas! It was so nice to just hang out in our jammies with family. We ate WAY too much, played with the kids and their new toys and played games together. My husband and I like to give gag gifts to mix things up a bit so I gave him this AWESOME headshot of me in a gaudy gold frame for his office. I think he especially liked the color-tinting and my super hot pose.

My daughter worked super hard on a very thoughtful gift for me this Christmas. When she asked what I wanted for Christmas I said, “A nice photo of all of my kids” (referring to the ones I wanted to take for our Christmas cards). Well she took matters into her own hands and bought matching pajamas for herself and her brothers with her allowance. She then ironed on letters for each of their names and made my husband take a photo of the kids together with his i-phone (see image below). Then she found a 2010 Christmas frame and put the image in a frame and wrapped it up. It was SOOOO sweet of her!

We will be taking a train (I told the kids it was the Polar Express) to visit family so I am taking a blog-cation until after the New Year. I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas and are enjoying time with your family too!
